Over one million have voted in advance municipal election in Finland

Voters have continued to exercise their voting right in the advance voting period which will end on June 8. Two days before the end of the advance voting, about 1,021,410 people have voted which account for 22.9% of the eligible voters according to the latest update of the election body.

According to the election statistics, there are 35,627 candidates running for the local election of which only 953 are people of foreign origin.

Finland’s eligible voters is 4460295 (Gentlemen 2186306, ladies 2273989)

Vantaa, the city with the highest number of people of immigrant background (22%) have recorded 37,120 votes, Espoo ( 19.1) 51,265 votes, Helsinki 136,322 votes, Turku 40,950 votes and Tampere 53,425 votes.

The election was supposed to hold on April 18 but it was postponed to June 13 because of the Covid-19 pandemic
