US President-elect Donald Trump to take more than 200 executive actions on his first day in office.

US President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly set to sign over 200 executive actions on his first day in office after being inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, January 20.

Trump, 78, who defeated Democrat Kamala Harris in the November presidential election, will succeed incumbent President Joe Biden.

According to Fox News Digital, the actions will include 50 executive orders addressing issues such as border security, domestic energy production, and merit-based federal hiring. Jason Miller, a senior adviser for the incoming administration, stated that Trump plans to begin signing these orders immediately after his inauguration, with many being part of “omnibus” directives.

Previously, Trump had indicated he would sign at least 25 orders on his first day in office. An official described the moves as “a massive, record-setting, unmatched first wave,” adding that they represent “the most extensive list of executive actions in American history,” aimed at fulfilling campaign promises.

Among the orders, Trump will reportedly declare a national border emergency to effectively close the southern US border, though there is no confirmation of similar action for the northern border. His administration also plans a mass deportation initiative in Chicago and a citizenship order that would end automatic citizenship for children of illegal immigrants born in the US. This proposal would likely face legal challenges, as it conflicts with the 14th Amendment.

Additionally, Trump has vowed to suspend the security clearances of 51 national security officials linked to the Hunter Biden laptop controversy, halt government offshore wind leases, end electric vehicle mandates imposed by the Biden administration, and withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord.

Trump also aims to overhaul federal workforce policies, enforcing merit-based hiring, returning workers to the office, and issuing warnings about job security for non-compliance with directives. “This is about stopping corrupt, abusive behaviour and refocusing the government on its fundamental duties to the American people,” an official told Fox.

On the campaign trail, Trump said, “I want to be a dictator for one day because I’m gonna get going with, ‘Drill, baby, drill.’ After that, I’ll never be a dictator.”
