Adanma Luke, the producer of the movie actor Junior Pope was filming before he drowned, has claimed that the late actor was given a life jacket but declined to wear it because it was dirty.
Luke has faced heavy criticism following the deaths of actor Junior Pope and three others after their boat capsized on the Anam River in Anambra State while returning from the set of her movie, ‘The Other Side Of Life.’
Speaking out for the first time since the incident, Luke Adanma stated that Junior Pope was offered a life jacket but refused to use it due to its unclean condition.
In a video message shared on her Instagram account, she said, “My director wore a life jacket, and Emeka, the DOP, also had one. There was still one life jacket available, but I’m not sure who took it.
“My production manager said they saw life jackets hanging and took them. He said he even asked the late Friday to offer one to Junior Pope, but Junior Pope declined, saying it was dirty.
“Those with life jackets survived the boat accident. They also told me that when they were in the water, trying to stay alive, Junior Pope was asking, ‘Is everyone okay? Is everyone fine?’ They said they even threw him a gallon to hold onto, which he was using, but then suddenly they lost sight of him.
“When they got out, they realized he was no longer there. Divers came and saved some people, while other divers continued to search for others.
“I asked what could have caused the accident. They said they didn’t know, but TC was standing on the speedboat rigging bell.”
