U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has appointed his campaign manager, Susie Wiles, as Chief of Staff, marking her as the first woman to ever hold this cabinet position.

This announcement is expected to be the first of several as Trump gears up to return to the White House on January 20. Calling her the “winning campaign manager,” Trump stated, “It is a well-deserved honour to have Susie as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history.” He praised her as “tough, smart, innovative, and universally admired and respected” in a post shared by his campaign on X.

The Chief of Staff is a crucial position, serving as the president’s gatekeeper, overseeing White House staff, managing the president’s schedule, and coordinating with government departments and lawmakers.

Reflecting on Wiles’ role in his campaign, Trump added, she “just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history.” Vice President-elect JD Vance also shared his support on X, saying, “This is great news. Susie was a huge asset to President Trump on the campaign and will be a huge asset in the White House.”

In his previous term, Trump went through four Chiefs of Staff, including retired Army general John Kelly, who later criticized Trump, calling him a “fascist” and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.
