Large parts of Nigeria were plunged into darkness on Saturday following a collapse of the national grid, the first recorded this year.
Data from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal (niggrid.org) indicates that the grid failure occurred at 1:56 pm.
This incident continues a trend of instability, with the grid experiencing at least 12 collapses in 2024.
As of the time of reporting, government authorities have yet to disclose the cause of the latest failure.
However, parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, still have power supply.
It is worth noting that the national grid suffered a total of 12 collapses in 2024.
