Tervola, a municipality which is located in the province of Lapland is offering to pay out 6,000 euros per child born in 2023, up from the current payment of 500 euros.
According to Yle, the municipality of Tervola in Finnish Lapland will make a twelve-fold increase to its baby allowance payments in an attempt to entice more young families to move to the area.
From the beginning of next year, the municipality will pay out 6,000 euros per child born in Tervola, up from the current payment of 500 euros.
The terms of the payment include that the family must be registered as living in Tervola at the time of the child’s birth.
The “baby money” will be paid out over five years, with the family receiving 2,000 euros per child in the first year and 1,000 per child per year for the following four years.
The municipality will also pay out if the baby has a due date in 2023 but is born this year.
