Galatasaray coach expects Osimhen’s arrival

by Admin

Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has expressed optimism over Victor Osimhen’s imminent return to the club, as the Nigerian striker edges closer to finalising a high-profile permanent move from Napoli.

The Turkish champions are in the final stages of negotiations with Napoli following lengthy discussions. Buruk confirmed that talks are progressing well, with only minor details left to be resolved.

According to multiple sources, Galatasaray are set to pay a total of €75 million for Osimhen—€40 million upfront and an additional €35 million due by 2026. The agreement reportedly includes a clause preventing Osimhen from returning to Serie A within two years, while Napoli will retain a 10% sell-on clause.

Osimhen has already given the green light to the transfer, having impressed on loan last season with 37 goals in 41 appearances—contributions that were instrumental to Galatasaray’s domestic double.

“Everything regarding Osimhen is going positively. We’re nearing completion. We want it finalised as soon as possible,” said Buruk. “The player’s side was already positive, and the talks with Napoli are also very positive. We hope it will be concluded soon. Our entire transfer strategy has revolved around Osimhen.

“We have a significant budget, and how we allocate that budget is crucial. Once this deal is done, we’ll consider our next moves.”

Osimhen is expected to arrive in Istanbul shortly for his medical and official unveiling. He is set to sign a four-year contract.

Once the deal is completed, Galatasaray are expected to turn their attention to finalising a new goalkeeper, while possible player departures may follow to comply with league regulations.

The Turkish side begin their domestic campaign on August 8 and are also preparing for UEFA Champions League qualifiers—an arena where they hope Osimhen’s presence will make a major impact.
