The remains of late 24-year-old Nollywood makeup artist Abigail Fredrick were laid to rest on Monday in her hometown of Ikot Udoma, Eket Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.
Fredrick was one of five film crew members, including actor Junior Pope, who died in a boat accident on the River Niger last Wednesday.
Following Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno’s order, her body was brought back to the state for proper burial after initially being buried by the riverbank.
Her body was exhumed on Sunday, April 14, 2024, and a candlelight procession was held in her honor.
A Facebook user, Ubong David, shared photos from the burial on Monday and noted, “Today, late Abigail Fredrick, the Nollywood makeup artist who tragically died in a boat mishap, was laid to rest at her family compound in Ikot Udoma, Eket.”
The funeral service was conducted by the Church of Christ, Ikot Udoma, and was attended by dignitaries including Eket Transition Committee Chairman Akaniyene Tommey; Commissioner for Tourism Charles Udoh; SA on Entertainment Moses Eskor; Godfada Uko, members of the Eket Transition Committee; Nollywood actress Eve Esin; the Nollywood community, and friends and sympathizers.
