by Admin

George Washington University has named Nigerian-born Ganiyat Adeduntan as the head coach of its women’s basketball team.

Before this appointment, Adeduntan coached Colgate University’s women’s basketball team from 2021 to 2025, leading them to consecutive 20-win seasons and setting a school record with 23 victories in the 2024/2025 season.

She previously served as an assistant coach at GWU from 2017 to 2021, contributing to the team’s Atlantic 10 Conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018.

GWU’s Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics, Michael Lipitz, praised Adeduntan, stating she is “the right leader to return GW women’s basketball to the top of the A-10 and the national stage,” according to GWSports.
