About 5,000 people gathered in the city of Helsinki on Wednesday, July 19 to make their voice heard. The theme of the demonstration is “Racists out of government”

The march towards the House of Parliament started from Säätytalo, and along the way even more participants joined the group. The demonstration is similar to that of Black Lives Matter that attracted about 3,000 people

According to the estimate of Helsinki Police Commissioner Henri Helminen, there were about 5,000 people protesting against the government in front of the Parliament building.

According to the police, the demonstration went peacefully and in good cooperation with the authorities. The only disruption caused was to traffic, when thousands of people marched through the center of Helsinki. According to Helminen, traffic on Mannerheimintie had to be stopped in front of the Parliament building for a while.

The demonstrators demands the resignation of Finance Minister Riikka Purra from the government.

At the Parliament,  several people spoke and they asked the government to be sincere with the zero tolerance on racism. The last person that spoke stated that “they will come back if nothing is done”
