Media personality Oriyomi Hamzat has regained his freedom after meeting his bail conditions.
On January 13, 2025, the Oyo State High Court granted bail to Hamzat, former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola, and Fasasi Abdullahi, principal of the Islamic High School, Basorun, Ibadan. The trio were involved in a case following a tragic stampede at a children’s funfair, organised by Naomi in collaboration with Hamzat, which claimed the lives of 35 children.
In a video shared on X on Tuesday, Hamzat, speaking in Yoruba, addressed a gathering, saying:
“Oriyomi is back! I’m in a time of reflection, so I’ll remain silent for now. Thank you very much; I’m truly grateful. You may take your leave.”
Hamzat, Naomi, and Fasasi had been remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre. They face four charges, including conspiracy, negligence causing harm, and failing to ensure adequate security and medical facilities at the event.
