The Finnish lawmakers will be considering a proposal that aims to ban Covid passport. The initiative has surpassed the 50,000 signatures required for Finnish lawmakers to consider the proposal.
Last month, within a week of the launch of the initiative, the required signatures were gathered
According to Yle, the authors of the initiative argue that Finland should abandon Covid passes, claiming the practice of excluding people based on vaccination status contradicts both the Finnish constitution as well as the UN’s human rights declaration. Authors said workplaces passports would meanwhile present a serious threat to the right to work and income.
The passport enables people to gain entry to various events. Obtaining one requires vaccination against Covid-19, a certificate of a recent negative test result, or a certificate of recovery from Covid-19.
