Tyson Fury has paid tribute to Anthony Joshua and the two people who lost their lives in a fatal road accident in Nigeria involving the former heavyweight champion.
The former world heavyweight titleholder, who could face Joshua later this year, shared a message on his Instagram story offering his condolences after the crash. The accident claimed the lives of Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, both close associates of Joshua.
Reacting to the tragedy, Fury wrote: “This is so sad. May God give them a good bed in heaven.”

The accident reportedly happened when a Lexus SUV slammed into a stationary truck at high speed on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, a major route frequently described by local media as one of Nigeria’s most dangerous roads. Joshua, who was travelling as a passenger, suffered injuries and was taken to hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Fury also shared a clip from a lengthy interview in which Joshua reflected on life, death, and their deeper meaning, acknowledging how fragile life can be. The British boxer used the moment to deliver a wider road safety message, urging young people to take greater care.
“Young people, it’s a stark reminder that you have to pay attention,” Fury said. “When you’re driving, you need to be alert at all times. Life is often most fragile when you’re enjoying yourself the most.”
He also warned drivers against speeding or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, emphasising that such actions frequently result in tragic outcomes.

Fury’s father, John Fury, also shared words of encouragement in a separate Instagram video, telling Joshua: “You’ve got a guardian angel, my friend. God has his arms wrapped around you.”
Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps later said preliminary findings showed the crash happened during an overtaking manoeuvre and involved excessive speed, identifying both as major causes of fatal accidents on the country’s highways.
Joshua remains under medical care as investigations continue, while tributes keep pouring in for Ayodele and Ghami, who were described as key members of “Team AJ” and central to the boxer’s career.
