Finnish Police Reveals Simon Ekpa Suspected Crime

Lahti based Simon Ekpa, the leader of an armed group in Nigeria that unleashes terror in Southeast Nigeria is being suspected of illegal collection of money according to the Central Criminal Police. The police arrested Ekpa in Lahti yesterday, Thursday and was released after several hours of preliminary investigation. 

The Police statement reads”

KRP is investigating a suspected money-collecting crime – the operation in Lahti was connected to the preliminary investigation 

– The police have been investigating the case since autumn 2022. The actual preliminary investigation in the case started at the beginning of February, and based on it, it is suspected that the man from Lahti has collected money in violation of the Money Collection Act. The police have interrogated the suspect, but the investigation is still in the early stages, says the head of the investigation, crime inspector Tommi Reen from the Central Crime Police.

The police have also received several contacts about the activities of the person in question on social media. In this regard, the police will find out if there is any reason to suspect the person of other crimes.
